Supportive Housing Project of the Year, Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey
Working directly with a non-profit organization, Kitchen & Associates designed a new three-story building to serve the homeless population in Asbury Park, NJ. The first floor of the building houses offices, a commercial kitchen, and gathering spaces. One main entrance is for The Center at Asbury Park’s pre-existing program, which offers drop-in support service and a food pantry program. The remaining floors contain 25 Single Resident Occupancy apartments (SROs) which provide permanent affordable housing for formerly homeless individuals who are living with HIV/AIDS.
Center House participated in the New Jersey ENERGY STAR Program and is one of the first buildings to be completed in the redevelopment zone in Asbury Park.
