Upon receiving 9% tax credits from Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), a comprehensive renovation of Bentleyville Apartments will commence. Located in rural Washington County, Bentleyville Apartments is an 11-building, 102-unit low-income family residential property on an 11-acre site, initially constructed in 1980. Eleven of the units will be fully wheelchair accessible and reconfigured by lowering counters with open knee space as well as adding either tubs or full-size roll-in showers. Additionally, two units will come equipped with devices for hearing and visually impaired residents.
Implementing sustainable and energy efficient measures achieves at least 30 optional measures points in the Enterprise Green Communities Checklist. Bentleyville Apartments will feature Energy Star fixtures and appliances, Water Sense appliances, low or no-VOC coatings and sealants, and high-efficiency furnaces and water heaters. Not only will interior renovations occur, but exterior improvements will also happen including new roofing, siding, and windows. The Community Room, leasing office, and social service office will be renovated as well as the outdoor playgrounds.
Congratulations to The Michaels Development Company for securing funding for this project!
