Liberty 52, a new affordable, three-story multifamily residence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been awarded 2018 Low-Income Tax Credits by the PA Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). Located at the corner of North 52nd and Poplar Streets, the building will provide supportive independent homes to 24 adults with disabilities, with a percentage of the units reserved for those with autism. Liberty 52 plans to be an asset to a neighborhood that already offers mass transit making access to eateries, churches, and shopping effortless, and the construction will also add to the residential and commercial streetscape of the .6-acres of vacant land it currently sits on.
The region serves Haddington Multi Services for Older Adults as well as other community health centers, and the site is also a few blocks from Philadelphia Promise Zone. This building will achieve a high level of energy efficiency through Passive House design strategies, compliance with Enterprise Green Communities Criteria, and the use of Energy Star label products throughout the units.
Congratulations to Liberty Housing Development Corporation for securing funding for this project!
