Villas del Caribe Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Villas del Caribe exemplifies the reclamation of a former industrial site, as well as an obsolete industrial building, repurposed for residential use in a way that is ideally suited to both its time and place. Located on a cleared city block in Philadelphia, this low-rise development consists of 81 units of new construction rental housing for families. The buildings consist of attractive two-, three- and four-bedroom rental units with an appropriate number of accessible units dedicated to wheelchair and vision/hearing-impaired residents.

Stylistically, the development integrates the classic Philadelphia row house look with the cultural flavor of the local Hispanic community. The project was designed at a lower density than the traditional urban model, providing a generous amount of green space while simultaneously blending housing and services within a single location. Villas del Caribe is located near community and institutional services, as well as other amenities such as shopping and banking. Public transportation provides quick connections via Allegheny Avenue to other neighborhoods, as well as the downtown Philadelphia area.
