LIFE at Lourdes Pennsauken, New Jersey

LIFE at Lourdes is one of the first two PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) programs established in New Jersey by Catholic Health East. Sponsored Lourdes Health System, LIFE at Lourdes PACE Center was opened in Pennsauken, NJ to serve the frail elderly who live in northern Camden County and need comprehensive healthcare. The 15,500 square foot LIFE Center occupies a new one-story office building located in a small office park. After the building exterior was completed, the interior was designed and constructed to meet the specific operational and regulatory requirements for PACE, while creating a welcoming ambiance that fulfilled the vision of the leadership at LIFE at Lourdes.

This PACE program provides a wide variety of health, wellness, personal care, nutritional, and therapeutic services to approximately 200 frail seniors who live at home in the surrounding area. On an average day, up to 100 senior clients gather at the center to partake in these services, while engaging in stimulating recreational and social activities. Adjacent to the lobby is a cozy family room with gas fireplace and comfortable club chairs, which is perfect for family meetings or for individual activities. Four light-filled dayrooms are designed for flexibility and serve multiple uses such as dining, group exercise and other large group activities. Two dayrooms are designed to enhance the safety and comfort of senior clients with dementia. The health center contains four exam rooms that accommodate the primary care staff, as well as specialists who provide specialty care on-site for the seniors. A fully equipped physical therapy gym, commercial serving kitchen, personal care suites, large IDT room and staff offices complete the center. A covered and secure outdoor patio allows seniors to enjoy fresh air and container gardening on warm, sunny days.
